Has anyone actually solved the call problem since then? I looked at Vultr's status page product and they have voice alerts but only on the $19 tier which defeats the purpose

Did you ever solve this I ended up wiring a Vultr webhook to a $3/month prepaid SIM in an old Nokia, basically the same gray-market route mediaaustin warned about but with a local carrier API Delivery is maybe 80% but the phone physically rings and the number is whitelisted on my end so it cuts through DND Still curious if anyone found a actually-reliable free stack

Contabo's free tier does webhook alerts to Discord, and Discord can push mobile notifications pretty aggressively. Not a call, but it buzzes.
I ran this for a year on a HostHatch box same as yours. The catch is you need the Discord app installed with notifications allowed, which sounds obvious but I missed it for two days.
For actual voice, KnownHost had a promo last year where their monitoring included call credits. Might be worth checking if anything similar is running now, though I haven't looked lately.
