Community project to donate idle VPS cycles

Caramba, I have this VPS at GreenCloudVPS doing nothing most of day, nossa! 4 cores, 8GB RAM, just hosting small website for my cousin. CPU at 3% average, what waste,

I want to donate cycles to something good, not just mine crypto for nobody. I heard about Folding@home, SETI@home died I think? Tor relay maybe? But I don't want no trouble with host, you know? Not illegal but some providers don't like

What you all doing with idle servers? I have maybe 3TB bandwidth not used also. Warm meandering thoughts welcome, I don't need nothing back, just feel less guilty about waste,

Hey folks, friendly reminder that we don't allow discussion of anything violating a host's AUP here. Tor exit nodes in particular are a gray area depending on provider.

That said, donating compute is great. @beto60, a few options that usually don't cause issues:

- Folding@home (scientific workloads, no network concerns)
- BOINC projects with host approval
- Community Mastodon instances for niche topics
- Open source CI runners for small projects

Check your GreenCloudVPS terms first. Most are fine with CPU load if it's not mining.
