BGP session on sub-$20 box—my ASN's midlife crisis
So I got this ASN back in 2021, right? Thought I'd be multi-homed by now, announcing my /24 to the world like a REAL network operator. Instead it's just... sitting there. Costing me $100/yr in RIR fees and existential dread.
Requirements:
- BGP session (full table fine, default okay, I just need SOMETHING)
- Sub-$20/mo
- IPv4 + IPv6
- I bring my own ASN and PA space
I know, I KNOW. "BGP on a budget VPS" is basically a meme. But I've seen whispers. OVHcloud used to do it on their €15 tier? Contabo had something in 2024? I need the community's collective memory here.
Current best find: Vultr's "Network Enthusiast" plan at $22/mo. SO CLOSE yet so far. If they just dropped $3 I'd have SNAPPED IT UP already
Anyone got leads? Even a NAT VPS with BGP would be a fun little project at this point. My ASN is developing abandonment issues.
