Alternative to SolusVM that isn't terrible

After last month vulnerability I need panel good for KVM management. The SolusVM is expensive and security is disaster. How much cost options self-hosted? I try the Contabo custom panel and is terrible, API broken. ¿Why not¡ more open source options? I search server stable with panel easy. Please recommend.

The Proxmox web interface is quite capable if you give it a fair shot. Most Linux admins dismiss Windows Admin Center without trying it, but I know the crowd here. Proxmox with some PowerShell remoting for guest automation has worked well for my small fleet. The clustering is solid and the backup scheduler is genuinely useful.

Have you tried restarting it?

Actually I used SolusVM for years, not my circus not my monkeys anymore. XD Proxmox is not bad but I dont like this interface, is actually too complicated for clients. I tried no custom scripts, no nothing, and I dont have time for this. Double negative: I am not unhappy with nothing currently because I moved to plain libvirt with my own dashboard. Is more work but nobody hack this because nobody know this exist.

  • Proxmox https://www.proxmox.com is the default self-hosted answer
  • But you will end up writing scripts anyway
    • For billing integration
    • For IP management
    • For client isolation
  • There is no escape from custom code
  • I tried six panels last year

I already use Proxmox with custom scripts lah. Three years already, no problem. The API is can or not? Yes, can, but you must build yourself dong. I try the commercial panel before, all got bug or expensive. Self-host is better, sleep more peaceful. My script idempotent already, run cron every hour. Client can reboot themselves, I just monitor.
