Hi! I have make a server since 2 days with Vultr and it is possible to do that? I think they have the protection but I dont know if it is for all plans lol. I pay 4 euro for 2gb ram. Mdr maybe it helps you. I am in france so europe is ok for me. Good luck with your project!
Ddos protection has tiers. 1gb plan gets layer 3 only. Udp game attacks need layer 7 scrubbing. Costs 3x. No provider gives that at 1gb price point. Checked 12 hosts. All same. packet loss on budget plans is feature not bug.
Actually (and this is important (because I ran a 2019-era insurgency server (back in my day we used srcds version 1.0.0.34 (before the steam pipe migration)))) the "DDoS protection included" you see on 1GB plans is usually just upstream nullrouting. They detect flood, blackhole your IP for 24 hours. Game over. You need something like HostHatch's "game shield" tier (which (full disclosure (I have not used since 2022))) or budget for Leaseweb's premium line.
What is layer 7? 😅 I thought ddos was just ddos. Sorry if this is dumb. I just want to host minecraft for my friends.
