Liquid cooling mandate for new DCs proposed

Did you test your restore? This liquid cooling mandate news has me thinking about our 3-2-1 rule. Three copies, two media, one offsite. But what about three cooling methods? Two power paths? One backup plan for when the mandate hits your legacy DC?

Checklist for small hosts:
- [ ] Audit current cooling capacity
- [ ] Calculate retrofit cost
- [ ] Check if grandfathered
- [ ] Test your restore (yes, again!)

3-2-1 or you're already dead

Guys this is bad for margins very bad. I am reselling on Hostinger and RackNerd, their DCs not new but if mandate hits then price go up. Any leads on cheap liquid cooling retrofit? Recieved email from upstream about "sustainability surcharge" already. What panels support this, cPanel or what? Customers will not pay more.

your margin is my opportunity

As said, the mandate is for new DCs only. Numbers:

- Retrofit cost: €800-1200 per kW capacity
- New build cost delta: 15-20%
- PUE improvement: 0.15-0.25 typical

Existing DCs not affected. Bullet list for clarity:
- Check your jurisdiction
- Check effective date
- Check if "new" means groundbreaking or certificate of occupancy

Dry humor: my fish tank has better cooling than some DCs I have seen.

Containers before it was cool
