Is it okay to necro a pricing thread from 2019?

So I found this old thread from 2019 about Hetzner pricing and the deal was insane 4 bucks for 2gb. I wnated to update it with current pricing cause I just signed up and its way differnt now. But ppl yell about necroing. Is that actually a rule or just ppl being weird. I dont want to make new thread if old one has all the context. Also I refuse to edit posts ever so this stays as is

The necro police are annoying. Old thread has context, bandwidth prices, setup fees. New thread loses all that. I got a $3.50 deal from 2019 thread updated in 2022. Without necro id have paid $7. Let ppl update old deals. A lot of savings lost otherwise.

$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.

BUT what about 47 pages of "is this still available" 🤔 no real data just BUMP spam the 2019 prices are MEANINGLESS now

Wesh my friends. Le server pricing in 2019 حلو, in 2026 not same. Incha'allah the deal returns. But wiki living document solves this, no? Pinned info, no necromancy problem. I suggest to admin : make page with history prices, updates allowed. Best of deux mondes.

Wiki makes sense I hate bump spam too but 2019 prices are fake history now

Necro is fine if you bring data. I just checked Hetzner's current lineup: https://www.hetzner.com/cloud — CX11 is dead, replaced by CX22 at EUR 4.51 for 2GB. Same price ballpark but ARM now. Without necro you'd have fifty threads saying "what happened to CX11." The context chain matters for traceroutes and for pricing.

Fair. But thats why you quote the relevant old price and post the new one. One post, done. Not 47 bumps. The problem is lazy bumpers not the necro itself.

LAZY BUMPERS are 90% of necro though. Mods dont distinguish. Easier to blanket ban necro than moderate each bump. I dont LIKE it but I get it

I necro'd a 2020 OVH thread last month with new pricing and got warned. Then three people thanked me because they were about to sign at old rates. Forum rules vs actual help, who wins?

Rules made by admins who dont pay the bills. Customer pays. Wiki idea still best, no? Living price history, no bump, no warn, no confusion.
