Appreciate it but their Phoenix datacenter is 180ms from here. I need EU routing or the RDP sessions feel like typing through molasses.
Contabo Munich gets me 35ms, that's the baseline now. BuyVM Luxembourg would be 40ms which is why I wanted it.

Luxembourg to Sofia should be better than 35ms if you're on a decent backbone. I'm getting 22ms from BuyVM Luxembourg to my flat, same city obviously but still.
The real problem with BuyVM is their stock situation. You wait for those KVM slices and they pretend checking the stock page every hour equals a notification system. For actually getting a server that's murder.
If you're patient, BuyVM restocks do happen. No guarantee but the block storage and filtering included crushes the upsell game elsewhere.
Hetzner's great until you need to explain to their support why you're downloading 800GB of weights monthly. Their abuse team is... thorough.
Also no GPU at all, which puts us back to cpu inference or paying cloud markup. CloudCone's A4000s — https://cloudcone.com — are actually in LA which is 10ms for me, just the price stings. $80/month last I looked, and that's the sale price.
I run whisper.cpp on a 2GB BuyVM slice in New York. Takes forever but it's reliable. The stock issue is real though -- I checked for a friend in March and the page was identical to today.
"Check back soon" for six months is not a restocking strategy, it's a museum exhibit.

Have you looked at Netcup? German company, actual stock, prices in EUR. Their RS lineup starts at EUR 6 and you get a proper ASIC not oversold KVM.
Not BuyVM cheap but not BuyVM imaginary either.

Still annoyed about the bot thing. Three months of checking and the one time they restock I'm asleep because it was 3am local. Who runs a business like this.
BuyVM's not running it like a business, that's the point. It's a side project that got popular. Fran's one guy with a support queue measured in weeks.
The stock "strategy" is literally: when the host has space, open orders. When it doesn't, don't. No forecasting, no waitlist, no notification system because that would be more infrastructure to maintain.
Explains the 3am restocks too. He's in Vegas, he's awake, he flips the switch when the provisioning finishes.
This whole thread started about stock bots and now I'm learning BuyVM is basically a one-person operation. Makes the $2/slice price make sense, also makes the "check back soon" make me want to cry.
Going to go benchmark CloudCone's A4000 properly this weekend. Will post numbers if anyone cares.
