52 VPS and counting

I run 52 boxes across 8 providers and something weird is happening. Started tracking this year.

  • Contabo: had /64 on every VPS in 2023, now "contact support" for allocation
  • OVHcloud: removed v6 from budget tier entirely
  • RackNerd: still advertises it but routes are dead, 3 months and counting
  • Hetzner: working but they raised price €2/mo for "dual stack premium"

My $/GB/RAM math says v6 used to be free overhead. Now it's either broken or a upsell. Where's the regression coming from? Routing table fatigue? Support tickets from people who don't know how to use it?

Who else is seeing this or did I just pick unlucky providers

My boxes on InterServer and KnownHost, this had v6 last year, now this only have v4, I am contact support and they say "we are evaluate demand" xd
This is not demand problem, this is cost problem I think, they dont want pay for ASN maintenance bro

I am check my list, 6 from 14 provider drop v6 or hide this behind ticket, very bad trend

I am buy yesterday from Vultr, they say "v6 coming soon" but I am check forum post from 2022 also say coming soon xixixi

Very scam lah

My country ISP give v6 since 2019, provider here no v6 is lazy only

Exactly bro. I am running hosting in istanbul and bgp cost is not joke bro.

Small provider cant afford ripe membership if customer not use v6. 200 euro yearly for what, 3 customer who know how to configure bro.

Contabo charge 2 dollar for dual stack is smart actually. Recover cost. (https://contabo.com/en/vps/)

But yes for customer this is regression, no question bro!

Can agree with OP, my friend have HostHatch and CloudCone, both slow-slow remove v6 from panel, no announcement also, just gone lah

But can understand also, many customer open ticket "my v6 not working" but actually they not configure firewall correct correct, support cost become high high

¡This is very worse than people think!

I am write long post about RIR policy and APNIC runout but too angry, delete now.

Short version: providers see v4 resale market, v6 is "why bother". Jajaja we deserve what we get.

Hetzner "premium" is insult. V6 should be default since 2010.

Agree in principle but sent ticket to Hostinger last month about their v6 routes flapping. Took 4 days to get "we are aware" response. Made test order at Leaseweb last week, v6 works but no PTR delegation.

The problem is not just adoption, is maintenance culture. Many providers added v6 because it was checkbox, now cannot support properly so they retreat.

If you need working v6 today: Time4VPS and GreenCloudVPS still solid. Can share my test results if useful.

Vultr "coming soon" since 2022 sounds like a broken record actually.
