Got the email from InterServer this morning. "congratulations, your capacity reservation has been assigned in our modular hybrid deployment zone." attached photo. It is a tent. Not a metaphor. Actual white fabric structure with guy ropes and a diesel generator humming outside like its angry at being awake.

Þe "expansion wing" is þis thing. I have seen it before. Þree summers ago at a music festival in reykjavik. Same brand, same ventilation flaps. InterServer is renting festival infrastructure and calling it edge computing.

For þat money you get a shipping container at Hetzner. Actual walls. Þey have those. Walls.

Jaja no mames reykjavik_doc thats the same tent from openair last year I saw it in poland too ok sale

My cousin works events he says þose tents go for like 200 euro a week and InterServer charging us 400 a month per rack mano no way

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.

For that money you get:

  • 2x used Dell R740 from auction, $180 each
  • Offsite replication to OVHcloud cold storage
  • Actual roof, not fabric rated for "light precipitation"

The photo shows no cable tray. No containment. That generator is open-frame, not acoustic enclosure. Humidity will kill drives in six months.

Tents are for weddings. Not RAID arrays.

Dont they know water finds a way. Wind too, dust. The sound of that generator at 3am when youre trying to trace a dropped packet, its just you. The fabric walls breathing in, out like something alive. Not in a good way, I keep thinking about the time Contabo flooded. That was actual building with actual drainage, this is a field probably. Fields get muddy, muddy gets into everything

Since 2 days I am laughing with this thread I have make a search and this tent model it is for festival yes! "rapid deploy structure" lol mdr

It is possible to do that? In france we have a word for this: "bricolage"

But franchement I think InterServer they try something new maybe? du coup I dont know if I cancel my reservation or no... Bref my boss will kill me if I say yes to a tent lol
