'instant setup' is usually a lie

Instant setup my ass. Ordered malý server from RackNerd, payment went through, still waiting into config after 4 hours. Page says "instant activation" hej? No, I check, no server. Open ticket, "queue is normal". Then why you write instant??

No, this is not first time. Before on Contabo same thing, 6 hours. On OVHcloud 8 hours. All say instant, all lie. Hej, I understand if you write "up to 24h", I wait. But instant means instant, no?

Worst part: I still with RackNerd. Three days they took for last "instant" setup. Three! And I pay again next month. Am I idiot? No, I am lazy and price is cheap. But instant is lie, always lie.

Nossa PetraSuper, 3 days is not instant kkkk. But I feel you, my friend. I was on Vultr once, they said instant... took 12 hours. Caramba!

But I don't leave too, nossa. Price is good, support answers... not fast, but answers. We are all a little lazy, não é? Kkkk

I think "instant" means "we don't need manual approve your ID" now. Not actually instant. Language changed and we didn't notice, caramba!

Look, "instant" used to mean minutes. Now means "automated but queue exists". Vut providers won't say queue because is bad for sales. They think we are stupid? ¡no! We see.

I moved to HostHatch after, actual instant. 2 minutes. But cost more. Everything has price. https://hosthatch.com

23/08/2026 update: "instant" in hosting SLA typically means "provisioning initiated automatically within 15 minutes of cleared payment." the bloody marketing team trims that to one word.

Technical reality: queue depth, fraud checks, stock availability. A true instant deploy needs idle inventory costing €0.05-€0.12 per unit per day. At scale that's tonnes of carbon and capital.

Contabo et al. Aren't lying structurally, they're lying by bloody omission. Queue exists, always. "instant" should read "automated queue" but conversion drops 18-22%.

Metric: my current deploy at InterServer took 7 minutes. That's genuinely fast. Advertised instant? No. Honest? Yes.

I stayed with Hostinger even though first setup took 2 days now they actually fast, like 10 minutes. But first time... oof. Basically I think they have no stock when I ordered, but no tell me. Just say "instant" and hope I not notice (´・ω・｀)

YMMV, but IMO the term has degraded industry-wide. Take it with a grain of salt.

Some providers still do true instant. Most don't. The gap between promise and reality is where frustration lives.

If it helps, I keep spreadsheet of actual vs advertised setup times. RackNerd https://www.racknerd.com averages 18 hours for me. Not three days, but not instant either.
