---
- setup
- treadmill desk acquired 2025-01-15
- max speed 2.0 mph "walking while working"
- NOTE: believed this would solve standing fatigue
---
- week 1-2 observations
- typing accuracy: degraded
- error rate ~15% vs baseline 3%
- video calls: awkward
- "are you on a boat?" — actual colleague question
- focus: fragmented
- constantly adjusting speed, balance, sweat
---
- week 3-4 collapse
- actual work output: ~40% of pre-treadmill
- meetings missed due to "need to stop the belt"
- WARNING: do not attempt to debug while walking
- nearly tripped over power cable
---
- current status
- treadmill: gathering laundry
- desk: back to sitting
- morale: EOF

Anyone else tried this? Seeking data points, not encouragement

indentation is not optional

Baseline: desk ping avg 0.2ms
treadmill: desk ping avg 45ms (instability jitter)
route via "walking" adds 44.8ms effective latency

traceroute to productivity:
 1 brain (0.2ms)
 2 balance_organ (12ms)
 3 motor_cortex (28ms)
 4 * * * (timeout)

Route via treadmill adds unacceptable jitter. Dropped packets everywhere. Recommend static routing via chair.

1ms or I don't want it

=== TREADMILL DESK BENCHMARK ===
cpu focus: 12% (throttled)
typing wpm: 23 (baseline: 78)
error rate: 15.2%
sweat output: 340ml/hr
meeting dignity: 0/100

=== STATIONARY BIKE DESK (friend's rig) ===
cpu focus: 89%
typing wpm: 71
error rate: 4.1%
sweat output: 290ml/hr
meeting dignity: 62/100

Decent disk IO, meh network. Bike wins on stability. Your friend runs bike + code? Need their specs.

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.

Does the bike desk need special shoes? I was looking at one for my shop but worried about falling my nephew says I should just get a normal desk
