Fitness-furniture integration project, phase one complete.
Built a standing desk with a twist: the motor only unlocks after my fitness tracker reports 10,000 steps. Before that, the desk stays at sitting height. Hot take: this is not a bug, it is the entire feature.
Hardware: Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W polling the Fitbit API every 5 minutes. GPIO drives a relay blocking the desk motor's 24V supply. For what it's worth, I considered a mechanical interlock and rejected it; software is easier to audit.
SPF/DKIM/DMARC for the API: the Fitbit webhook sends from a domain without DMARC at all. Disappointing.
Current failure mode: if the API flakes, desk defaults to locked. Wife unhappy. Considering local caching with TTL.
SPF, DKIM, DMARC — holy trinity ✉️

Usenet had a guy in '94 who wired his bike to a generator for his terminal. No apis. No "oauth". Just sweat and a bridge rectifier. Quotes were better then too.
