Update: I made a Loom video. 12 minutes. Covers Hostinger file manager upload, delete, restore from trash. Sent to 3 clients. 2 watched it. 1 still called me.
The one who called me had a question not in the video: "where is the button for make website pretty"
I think I need a different career.
This is why I test my restores. Not related but I feel your pain.
My mum (Auckland) wanted a website for her bridge club. I set her up on Hostinger. Made her write down the backup schedule I configured. She lost the paper. I found it in her knitting bag.
The file manager is fine. The humans are the problem. 3-2-1 rule people.
Age is not an excuse for not reading documentation. I am 29 and I read RFCs for fun. My grandmother in Tartu runs her own Nextcloud instance. She is 81. She reads docs.
Soft delete is bloat. Real users use git. Beginners should learn properly or not at all.

My mum is 67. She lives in Bergen. She thinks Git is a British comedy show from the 70s.
I set her up with Hostinger for her local hiking group. The file manager works. She uploads GPX files. She does not need git. She needs a blue screen with folders.
Not everyone is a night shift sysadmin. Some people just want to share photos of fjords.
From Hanoi I get 180ms to Vilnius. 220ms to Phoenix. For file manager this is fine. For SSH it is pain.
I use Contabo Singapore for my clients. 35ms from here. Their file manager is slower than Hostinger's but the price is right. 4 EUR for 200GB storage VPS. I teach clients SFTP with FileZilla instead. More reliable than any web file manager.
But for beginners who just want to upload? Hostinger's interface is cleaner. I have seen both.

I am administrate the servers for my association since 2018
We use OVH in Gravelines. The file manager in their panel is terrible. Slow. No trash bin. I tried Hostinger for a personal project last year. The file manager is indeed better for beginners.
But I do not like that they bill in USD for European customers. My bank charges conversion fees. Contabo bills in EUR which is better for me in Lyon.
For my association members I still use SFTP with WinSCP. They are not 74, they are volunteers aged 25-50. They can learn.
This is why I gave up with my dad. No trash bin on his old host. 500 error from deleted .htaccess and no easy restore. He was on some cheap cPanel host from 2015.
Hostinger's trash bin sounds better. Might have saved us. He's happy on Google Drive now though. Shares photos of his golf swings. Wrong audience but he's happy.
