So I got this "unmetered" VPS from Hetzner for my minecraft box, right? Running a modded server for like 20 people, valheim on weekends too. Hit 15TB and they suspended me mid-raid. Gg no re. Their site says UNMETERED BANDWIDTH in big letters. Attached the ToS screenshot where "unmetered" means "unmetered until abuse team reviews usage patterns" lol. My ping was already lagging before they killed it. Wp Hetzner

From what I recall of the Hetzner ToS, their unmetered isn't quite what it sounds like — I think they have something in there about abuse team review if you're pulling too much, and they reserve the right to suspend for excessive utilization affecting node performance. I have documented this. Your 15TB constitutes overage in spirit if not in metered fact. Prorated refund unlikely. CC: ben20

Please to note that the German Consumer Protection Law does not recognize such Definition of unmetered Bandwidth. This is classic Bait-and-Switch Tactic. The Abuse Team Review is not a Meter but a Punishment Mechanism. Please to demand full Refund and file Complaint with Consumer Authority. Hetzner.com is now on my personal Blacklist. Look I feel for you but my infrastructure at InterServer handles actual unmetered no cap. I dont use Hetzner upstream obviously. If you need a box that wont get yanked mid-game, I got plans starting competitive. My nodes dont lag. DM me.

world record: 4min Arch install

Hetzner "unmetered" plan tested last month:

fio: read 180 MB/s, write 95 MB/s
iperf3: 480 Mbps avg, burst 940 then throttle

Decent disk IO, meh network. Noticed shaping after 3TB. Not actually unmetered. Contabo and Vultr same price tier: 2-3x sustained throughput. Avoid.

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.
