Just a fun little project observation. Been running a NAT VPS over at Hetzner for a few months, it actually works fine for what I need. But their control panel? Brutal.

Timed it today:

$ time curl -s https://panel.hetzner.com/login > /dev/null
real    0m8.234s

That's just the login page. No dashboard data, no API calls. Plain HTML in 8 seconds.

Everything else is snappy. My actual services run fine. Just the panel. Anyone else seeing this?

Route via their AMS PoP adds 340ms before you even hit the panel origin. My traceroute shows 14 hops via Cogent, then a 180ms jump inside their network.

Not your connection. Their backend routing.

Hetzner panel known for this. Server very slow on management side, network not stable for API. But actual VPS fine. I run three there, сервер works good. Just use CLI instead. No need panel.
