I asked Hetzner support about stacking the anniversary discount with a coupon and got a weird reply.
I used BYTEFIVE last year and now have an affiliate coupon. I was hoping to use both on a new server. The rep said they apply sequentially, not additively, so no luck there.
What confused me is they also mentioned some people apparently managed to stack them for a few hours back in August during a cart glitch. They said those carts would be honored but the gap is patched now. Sounded like they wanted me to know they were watching for it.
Has anyone actually tried this recently? I'm not looking to game the system, just want to know if there's any legitimate way to get both discounts applied. The base price is already good but every euro counts with thirty client sites to keep running.
The window six hours is long, no? The system good for the honest buyer, the patch good for the company. But the "group buy" accidental, this is the part interesting.
I see in the terminal the carts shared, the codes combined, the price LOW. The server red of deal, the buyers happy. Hetzner honors the carts, the reputation stays good. No problems this way, no?
Methinks the honor of carts existing doth speak well of Hetzner's character, yet whence came this "group buy" if the codes were account-bound and non-transferable? I didst observe, in ye olde server threads of yore, that men would gather in shadowed channels and share the fruits of their carts one with another, such that one code applied to many wallets through the ancient art of the group order, wherefore the discount flowed like water from a mountain spring that twists and turns through valleys until you forget which peak it was that fed it, yet the water remains sweet.
The six hours, though brief, were sufficient for such commerce, and I marvel that the patch came not sooner, for the vigilance of Hetzner's engineers must surely have been sleeping, perchance, when the first cart combined the codes in unholy matrimony.
I tested it at 02:00 and it worked then again at 05:00 and still worked then at 08:00 and patched the gap was REAL I got 3 carts through my friends got 5 more the group buy formed in discord no one planned it just chaos and savings
The honor part is nice tho Hetzner good for that other hosts would cancel
We've received two complaints about off-site coordination to exploit the discount window. While Hetzner is honoring existing carts, deliberate exploitation violates our forum rules on fraud discussion (Rule 7).
Threads encouraging code-sharing for stacked discounts will be locked. Discussion of the bug itself, host response, and personal experiences remains fine.

The combo worked for me, got the 4gb plan for like $2.80 or someting. Definitely a lot cheaper than my old InterServer deal. Im not in any group buy just saw the thread and tried it. Lucky I guess
