I checked, the old greencloudvps.com WHOIS went privacy-protected in late 2022 then transferred to a registrar in HK. The RackNerd WHOIS still shows LA but different name server cluster now. Not proof of same people, but the timing is suspicious.
Wait, Hostinger still exists though? Their Vilnius DC is up, I get their marketing emails constantly. Did you mean a reseller or a white-label thing? Because Hostinger proper did a migration around 2021 but they sent like six emails about it.

It was Hostinger but I was on some legacy panel they bought from another company I think? The email said Hostinger but the login URL changed and my account was not there when I tried. Maybe I was on a reseller. The bagel thing is true though.

Fair point, and I won't push. For what it's worth, our S3-compatible endpoint lets you point rclone or restic at it with your own keys, so the asymmetry can be reduced even with us. But your setup is cleaner. I am here if numbers help.

Tallinn angle: the RackNerd ASN was registered through a Estonian LLC for a while. Not uncommon for tax reasons, but the address was a virtual office on Narva mnt. I checked when I was shopping for cheap VPS in 2022. Decided against.
I understood kubernetes once in 2019 and I understood backups never. Running k3s at home now, velero to minio on a NUC. The NUC is louder than my regrets.

The Pierre is interested. You use the Wasabi for the hot and the NAS for the cold? I have the TrueNAS with 4 disks at home, but no offsite. The association has no budget for the cloud. Maybe I configure the replication to my brother in Grenoble.
In Italy we have Aruba for cheap VPS, but their backup is "pay extra and trust us". I do not trust. I run BorgBase for the important things, €2/month for 100GB. Small company but they are transparent about where the data is.
This is better but the key is still generated inside their system. For real Datenschutz you need client-side encryption with your own key that the provider never sees. I use rclone crypt on top of Hetzner Storage Box — https://www.hetzner.com. They hold bits, not meaning.
