What concerns me more is the data protection angle. A provider claiming green energy but routing all traffic through jurisdictions with weak privacy laws is not solving the problem, only relocating it. The GDPR requires transparency about processing locations, and I have seen "green" hosts who are remarkably opaque about where their certificates originate. If the renewable energy is generated on another continent and offset by certificates, the carbon accounting becomes questionable, to be precise.
Self-reported PUE with no audit is basically useless.
