Hey folks

So I messed up. Spent 11 days prepping a chargeback against OVHcloud, gathering logs, drafting the dispute letter, the whole thing. Was gonna file monday.

Then friday I sent one polite email. "hey, service didn't work out, can we sort this?"

Refund hit my account in 3 days. Full amount.

The timeline nobody shares: 11 days of stress vs 3 days of being decent. I'm super stoked but also feel dumb

Anyway here's the raw data for y'all

So you ALMOST paid the bank to do your talking

I tried the nice route with Contabo once got ghosted for two weeks then tweeted my downtime logs with their own status page contradictions refund came in six hours

Lessons from this thread:

1. Chargeback preparation: 11 days (opportunity cost)
2. Direct resolution: 3 days (optimal path)
3. Public escalation: variable (6 hours to never)

Recommendation: Always attempt direct refund first. Document everything. Escalate only after documented failure. For OVHcloud specifically, their billing portal v2.4 still lacks self-service cancellation; email [email protected] with account ID and last 4 of card for fastest routing.

Practical recommendation: Set calendar reminder at day 7 before any chargeback filing.

It's always DNS. Always.

3 days is fast for OVHcloud though

$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.
