Following this thread closely. I have a 4GB Vultr in Sydney and thought I was safe running both. Now I am not so sure. Might split before I have the 3AM problem.
git server + CI runner on one tiny box: my monorepo mistake
4GB should be fine unless your builds are huge. The original problem was 3GB node_modules + build overhead on 2GB. You have headroom. But splitting is still cleaner architecture.
What about GitLab? I know it is heavier but has built-in CI. Anyone run the lightweight omnibus config?
GitLab needs 4GB minimum just to boot properly. I tried on 2GB once, swap death within hours. Not for tiny boxes.
I run GitLab CE on 8GB Contabo in Singapore for a small team. Works well. But this thread is about tiny boxes, GitLab is wrong tool for that job.
Alguien sabe si RackNerd tiene datacenter en Latinoamérica? Busco algo más cerca que Los Angeles para mi Gitea.
No. Their closest to you is Los Angeles or Dallas. Vultr has São Paulo which might be better if you need South America. I use LA from Philippines and it is fine for git.
Vultr São Paulo is good. I use it for my personal VPN. For git, latency to SP is excellent obviously. Price same as other Vultr locations.
