First peering agreement I did took six weeks and three rounds of legal review. The NDA alone was twelve pages.

Have you tried asking if they have a 'lightweight' version? Some IXPs offer a simplified LOI for small networks. The awkward first emails are normal — the other side's peering coordinator has seen worse trust me.

The real surprise: most of my 'agreements' now are just email confirmations with a route object. The formal contract is theater for bigger players. You're probably overthinking it.

Lol I have make my first peering since 2 days with HostHatch it was just email and mdr the guy say 'ok I add your ASN' and it is possible to do that? I think yes because it work now

Before that I send 10 emails to CloudCone and no answer bref maybe they dont like small network du coup I stay with HostHatch

Congratulations on getting it done!

Peering agreements are like backups — everyone thinks they need the fancy enterprise solution, but sometimes simple email + route object is enough.

Quick checklist for your new peer:

  • Did you test your restore? (BGP config backup before changes!)
  • 3-2-1 rule: config in git, local copy, offsite copy
  • Monitor for 48 hours after session up

I make a server up with Leaseweb and they ask me for peering but I have no ASN lol

It is a dedicated server 64GB RAM but I dont know why they ask peering I just want to host my website lol

They probably didn't ask for peering — more likely they asked if you wanted a BGP session or announced IP space. Leaseweb offers that as an add-on. If you just want to host a website you don't need any of it. Standard dedicated with their IPs is plug and play.

64GB is plenty. What CPU? Leaseweb Frankfurt or Amsterdam?

Mdr same for me at the beginning, I think they propose BGP session but you can say no and use their IP, it is more simple no?

Leaseweb Singapore here. Can confirm, they offer BGP but you have to ask for it. Default is just static IP. Maybe their sales bot sent wrong template.
