So back in 2021 I was just some dude running a minecraft box on a $3/y special from some dead provider. Valheim lag was my biggest problem. Gg no re, right?
Four years later I'm an SRE at a mid-size fintech. Here's the actual path: homelab → CCNA → AWS SAA → junior sysadmin → platform engineer → SRE. The minecraft box taught me more about networking than any cert. When my friends complained about lag, I learned tcpdump.
To anyone lurking: wp if you're grinding. The lag you're fighting now is just latency on your career path. You got this.
Actually, I don't believe in certs. Not my circus, not my monkeys if someone wants paper. I learned by breaking my own ser-va and fixing it at 3am. XD You can't not learn when everything is on fire and actually nobody is coming to help.
Assume compromise: your minecraft box was an attack surface. Threat model your career path the same way. The blast radius of a bad cert vendor is your wallet. Zero trust the bootcamps.
