From 14nm to 7nm, my power bill finally dropped

So basically I was running old Xeon E5 v3 on Contabo dedi for ~3 years and power bill was actually killing me (´・ω・`) every month like 70 dollars just for server electricity, no joke

Finally moved to 7nm Epyc on OVHcloud last month and bill dropped to ~25 dollars actually insane difference. Annual comparison is like $840 to $310 basically paid for itself in one year

Old server was pulling 180W idle, new one is 65W idle with more cores actually. Efficiency is beautiful thing (´・ω・`)

Anyone else made jump and saw big difference? Or still running dinosaur chips for some reason

1. Congrats on the upgrade
2. Power efficiency is genuinely important now
3. Some counterpoints though:
3. A) embodied carbon from manufacturing new hardware
3. B) disposal of old gear
3. C) did you actually measure or just read specsheet?
4. Still, $530/year is significant
5. Have you calculated total cost of ownership including migration time?
