Back in 2019 I prepaid €90 to Time4VPS for "Black Friday triple credit"—€270 account balance. Used €40, forgot the rest. Life happened. Seen a lot of consolidation in this industry, brands get absorbed, prices change after a sale, you never know if your credit will survive.
Logged in yesterday on a whim. Balance: €230. Tried to apply it to a €19/year promo plan. System threw an error. Ticketed. Level 2 had to handle it manually—their billing system literally cannot process a negative balance. "We'll apply it in €19 increments annually," the tech wrote, "or you can take the full €230 as a one-time account credit toward any service."
I'm now paid through 2037 on a KVM plan. Back in 2009, I had a HostGator credit disappear in an acquisition. This is the opposite. Anyone else sitting on ancient promotional balances that survived corporate necromancy?
