Hi everyone, sorry if this is the wrong section

I just got the email this morning. Mylastname.com dropped and my backorder at Contabo caught it. I've had that backorder since 2014. Twelve years!!

Sorry, total noob here, is this a normal wait? I feel like I won something but also maybe I wasted money keeping it active that long? I don't even know what I'm going to do with it yet. Maybe email.

Anyone else have crazy backorder stories? Would love to hear. Sorry again if this is dumb.

Congrats. Twelve years is patience I don't have.

For that money you get a decent used server off auction. Dell R720, dual E5-2680v2, 128GB DDR3, 8x 4TB SAS in RAIDZ2. Runs ZFS like a champ.

My longest backorder was 3 years for a 4-letter .com. Gave up, bought a 5-letter instead. The 4-letter never dropped. Still watched.

For that money you get peace of mind I guess.

zfs send | zfs receive. repeat.

Actually congratulations on the Persistence, that is a very long Time indeed and the System worked as intended or?

I remember when I backordered my Familyname back in two-thousand-eleven and the Domaindropcatchingsoftware I used at that Time it was a very simple Perlscript actually failed three Times before it finally succeeded on the fourth Attempt because the Registrarserverresponse was too slow or? Compoundwordsfusedtogether in the WHOISdatabase made it very difficult to track the exact Deletiondate actually but in the End it worked out after only eighteen Months which feels like nothing compared to your twelve Years or?

Nice. Patience is a virtue; 12 years is commitment. Most people drop after 6 months. Never understood the backorder psychology. Just register something else. But hey. You won. That's what matters;
