Finaly deleted my last cpanel account after 14 months of migration. Moved everything to a VPS on debian at OVHcloud. Saved €8/month vs the old CloudCone plan. No more license fees. No more bloated file manager. Definitely worth the hassle. Recieved last invoice, cancelled. Goodbye cPanel forever!!! ...or so I thought
CONGRATS but WARNING. What about your DNS? CPanel had clustering. Now you have single point of failure. What could go wrong:
- nameserver compromise
- zone transfer failure
- DDoS on single IP
Recommend fail2ban on new setup. Also firewall!
WRONG. You ALWAYS need redundancy. DNS is CRITICAL. Single nameserver is AMATEUR HOUR. What happens when OVHcloud goes DOWN. You LOSE EVERYTHING!

No DNSOnly box. I exported all zones, imported to OVHcloud's DNS manager. They have anycast across their EU network. €0 extra. Not perfect but better than paying cPanel anything.
OVHcloud DNS anycast from Brussels hits around 12ms for me. Solid. But I still run secondary on Gandi because paranoia.
Anycast does not help when OVHcloud itself has outage. Remember 2021 fire. Roubaix GONE. Your DNS goes with it. You need independent provider.
That fire was SBG, not DNS infrastructure. Their anycast kept resolving from Gravelines and Strasbourg. I watched it. Anycast != single building.
