Do you run your own DNS resolver?

Right then, lads. Curious about this after my AdGuard Home instance on a Hostinger VPS decided to have a lie-in this morning. Proper reminder that I am, in fact, running critical infra on a £3.50/mo box.

Do you lot bother with Unbound/AdGuard/pihole, or just point at 8.8.8.8 and call it a day?

Self-hosted Unbound on dedicated resolver pair. Error budget: 0.1% downtime monthly. We exceeded it once in Q2 due to certificate expiry on DoT. Ran full blameless postmortem. Transparency: our fault, automation gap.

For home? I use upstream. Operational overhead not worth it at small scale. Transparency about limits matters.

I run the terminal with pihole in docker good. Two container, one for DNS server good, one for the terminal WEB no?

Is not hard. But my friend dont know what is DNS. He ask "why the internet dont work" and I say "the DNS server good is down". He dont understand no?

Not everyone need the terminal good. But is nice to block ads.
