DoH relay for family: redirected all 15 devices through my HostHatch VPS

Pipe everything through cloudflared, they said. Privacy good, they said. Now spouse cannot reach work VPN, smart thermostat redirected to /dev/null, child screams because Roblox EOF

I wanted split-horizon from start. But "unified privacy" sounded pure. Now I maintain three blocklists, custom CA for internal domains, and marriage is buffering.

EOF

| pi-hole was simpler
| this is complexity debt
| spouse will pipe me to /dev/null soon

/dev/null: full of good ideas

The terminal is your friend no?

But you make problem server good for external, bad for internal. Split-horizon DNS is the WAY. One view for family, one view for public. Is not hard no?

I run this on KnownHost VPS for two year. BIND views, the terminal, very stable. Your spouse happy, you happy. No divorce from complexity no?

DoH for external only. Internal resolver plain. SIMPLE.
