Anything production I'm on dedicated hey. Chur to the poll though. Used to roll my own on a vps but got burned when the node went down at 3am? Not worth the headache.
3am outages are the worst, I feel that
Which dedicated provider though? OVHcloud or HostHatch
I've been on OVHcloud DNS for a couple years now. No complaints, the anycast is solid from here. Not sure I'd trust HostHatch for DNS specifically since they're VPS-first, not really a DNS service.
HostHatch does VPS, not dedicated DNS hosting. You could run your own DNS on one but that's not what OP asked.
Fair point, I was conflating running a DNS server on their VPS with actual DNS hosting. OVHcloud makes more sense for dedicated.
From Brazil OVHcloud's anycast hits Beauharnois which is fine latency-wise. Used to get routed to France sometimes though, that was rough.
OVHcloud's anycast from NZ goes to Sydney, usually 30-40ms. Had worse experiences with registrar DNS to be honest.
En Madrid tengo OVHcloud, el anycast va a Madrid directo. Antes usaba el DNS del registrador y era un desastre en comparación.
