CONTROL PANELS MADE US WORSE AT LINUX AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL SO LISTEN UP I REMEMBER BACK IN 2019 WHEN I HAD TO SET UP A LAMP STACK ON A RAW DEBIAN SERVER NO CPANEL NO PLESK NO NOTHING AND I KNEW EVERY CONFIG FILE BY HEART I KNEW WHERE APACHE KEPT ITS VHOSTS I KNEW THE EXACT SYNTAX FOR IPTABLES RULES AND I EVEN KNEW HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT MYSQL CORRUPTION AT 3AM WHICH REMINDS ME I WAS EATING COLD PIZZA THAT NIGHT BECAUSE THE MICROWAVE BROKE AND MY CAT MR WHISKERS KEPT WALKING ACROSS THE KEYBOARD AND IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE I COULD HEAR IT ON THE WINDOW AND I FIXED THAT SERVER IN TWENTY MINUTES FLAT NOWADAYS I LOG INTO CONTABO'S CONTROL PANEL AND I CLICK A BUTTON AND I FORGET WHAT THE BUTTON EVEN DID AND LAST WEEK WHEN THE AUTOSSL SCRIPT BROKE I STARED AT THE TERMINAL LIKE A DEER IN HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE I COULDNT REMEMBER IF CERTBOT LIVED IN /ETC/LETSENCRYPT OR /OPT/CERTBOT AND I USED TO KNOW THIS I USED TO DREAM IN APACHE DIRECTIVES AND NOW I DREAM IN BUTTONS AND DROPDOWN MENUS AND EVERYONE SAYS OH BUT ACCESSIBILITY AND OH BUT TIME SAVINGS AND I SAY SKILL ATROPHY AND YES I KNOW THE WEATHER WAS OVERCAST ON TUESDAY WHEN I WROTE THIS AND MR WHISKERS IS SLEEPING ON THE ROUTER BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT THE POINT IS WE ARE RAISING A GENERATION OF SYSADMINS WHO PANIC WHEN THE GUI GOES DOWN AND THAT IS MY WHOLE POINT IF YOU READ THIS FAR WHICH NOBODY EVER DOES

¡bravomartha, your passion is very admirable! Jajaja but I think you are very harsh on the beginners, ¿no? Is very different world now. I remember my first server, I was very lost without panel... I write long paragraph about this but delete, so: panels save time, time is money, but you are correct that we need know the CLI for when panel breaks. Balance only.

The control panels are serving as educational scaffolding only. Many beginners, myself included, have examined the configuration files generated by cPanel to understand the underlying mechanisms. It is not skill atrophy itself but rather a different learning path. Kindly do not dismiss accessibility tools as harmful.
