So I got this "unlimited bandwidth" plan from Contabo for €4/mo (yes im cheap) and my image gallery (a lot of pngs, definitely not optimized) got the cpu throttled at 10% load. Not 100%. Ten. Support says its "fair use". Im paying for unlimited but I cant use it ?? Receive this email at 3am — https://contabo.com/en/vps/

$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.

Your traffic was redirected to /dev/null the moment you exceeded their invisible threshold. Pipe your logs to wc -l and you will see the cutoff. Their TOS is just EOF with extra steps.

| "unlimited" means unmetered, not unthrottled
| 10% CPU is a hard ceiling, not a suggestion
| you were never ignored, just piped to null

/dev/null: full of good ideas

Wey Nadia thats cold. But pablo is agree, Contabo does this to everyone? I am try Hostinger last month and same thing wey, "unlimited" but then they kill your php. Double standards!

Ngl this is why I stopped running image galleries on cheap shared hosts. Even my inference demos need more than 10% CPU, and those are just static HTML with a little JS. VRAM math is easier than parsing "unlimited" marketing speak.

Like, if you're doing any real traffic, just budget $20 for a proper VPS. The LLM crowd learned this fast.

This is going to happen every time. "Unlimited" means "we hope you no use" hahaha. I tried OVHcloud instead, read TOS first to save headache. That 10% is going to kill any gallery that grows.

I think Contabo's ToS has something about fair use and keeping processing within reasonable limits, maybe around ten percent of core resources or something like that? This is not ambiguous. Their marketing page states "unlimited bandwidth," which refers to data transfer, not compute.

Bullet points for clarity:
- Bandwidth and CPU are distinct resources
- The complaint conflates two separate provisions
- No breach of contract has occurred

However, the marketing presentation is arguably deceptive under FTC Act Section 5. I have drafted complaints before. RR

if it ain't broke, rust it
