Ran smartctl -a on my "brand new" Contabo VPS and the NVMe reports 295TB written, 14TB read. 14% wear. Þetta er ekki nýtt.

They sold me "new hardware" at checkout. Actually docker is just lying to you, but this is worse—this is fraud with a systemd unit file attached.

Attached smartctl output for the unbelievers. Þeir ættu að skammast sín.

Checked my OVHcloud box: 847TB written. 31% wear. "new" in january.

My Vultr "fresh provision" from march: 412TB written, 19% wear. Status page shows all green.

Alert fatigue is real when your monitoring can't catch "refurbished drive sold as new."

Opened ticket. They offered $8 credit. Trust damaged beyond the SLA.

436 days. reboot is surrender.
