Contabo shared my dedicated server's NIC with another tenant

The real cost is the time to migrate if you don't trust the fix.

Yes, this. My homelab is my homelab, I have three VMs with personal things, not critical but private. The time to migrate everything to another provider is more than six months of credit. And where I go? Hetzner is more expensive, OVHcloud beto60 says same problems, Leaseweb is for business.

I stay but I watch. The bridge now has strict filtering and I log everything. If I see again strange ARP, I post here first before ticket.

Hetzner is expensive yes, but the auctions! I have a server dedicated there for 34 EUR, more than Contabo but zero problems in two years. Before I was in OVHcloud Kimsufi, same caramba of shared things. The cheap has a price.

But I understand, the credit is credit. I would have signed too probably, I'm not so brave when the money calls.

Linux bridge + tcpdump to catch this is solid troubleshooting. On Windows Server I'd use Network Monitor or Wireshark with NDIS filter, same result different syntax. The SR-IOV PF/VF model is the same either way: hardware offload fails, software sees everything.

Question for OP: did Contabo give you any timeline for when they applied the fix? Even month-year? NDA or not, that's operational info you could have asked before signing.

I'm in Berlin, I have a Contabo VPS in Nuremberg for testing. Not dedicated, so no SR-IOV for me, but this thread made me check. I see only my traffic, but I run on shared KVM anyway so I expect nothing.

The dedicated plans are in Munich and Nuremberg only for Germany, right? St. Louis and New York are newer, maybe different hardware, maybe same image. We don't know. That's the problem with no changelog.

Following this. I'm in Valencia, was considering Contabo dedicated for a Proxmox node. Now I think I wait. Six months credit is nice for OP but I don't want to be the next one finding bugs with tcpdump at 3am.

Does anyone know if Hetzner auction servers have SR-IOV? I never checked.
