My annual plan at Contabo just auto-renewed and the price doubled? I got the invoice this morning and I don't understand. I thought it was the same price forever. I have three client sites on there and I'm worried if I complain they'll delete everything. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't afford $240 when I budgeted $120.
Contabo doubled my price with no warning

Here's what you do:
- Check your original welcome email for "grandfather" or "price lock"
- Search this forum for "Contabo grandfather" — someone posted the ticket template that worked
- Calendar alert 30 days before EVERY renewal, I learned the hard way
I pay $4.17/GB RAM on average now. Used to be $2.50. Everything trends up.
seedbox, NAS, tape, and three offsite
$240 buys:
- 2x 8TB external drives
- rsync.net 400GB plan for 2 years — I use https://rsync.net for that
- A second cheap VPS for failover
But first, fight the renewal. For that money you get leverage if you paid already — chargeback window is your friend. Document everything.
Never pay without fighting! Check your original order email! Contabo had a grandfather clause in 2023! I found it in my archives! They honored mine after I sent the screenshot!
I say this in every thread. What if they "restore original pricing" by "accidentally" deleting your account? I've seen it. Paranoid? No. Prepared. Download your backups NOW before you open the ticket. Disaster stories start with "I trusted them."
