"Same price renewal" is the biggest scam since systemd.

Tracked three years across four "budget" providers. Here is reality:

Contabo: advertised €3/mo, actual €4.87 with "facility fee" + "IP management"
OVHcloud: advertised €5/mo, actual €5.02 (honest about everything)
Vultr: advertised $2.50/mo, actual $6.40 after mandatory "security suite"
Hostinger: advertised $4/mo, actual $4.00 exactly

The cheapest headline was Hostinger. The cheapest actual was Hostinger.

Contabo cost more than OVHcloud. Marketing is a skill issue.

Back in my day you paid for what you got and you knew the price

Now r "facility fee" is just rent with extra steps :-)

My c64 cost what it cost no surprises
