  • I will admit first
  • 2023 I went through a phase
  • Caffeine pills from the gas station
  • Not even brand name
  • The orange ones
  • I am better now
  • Mostly
  • What does everyone else use
  • Be honest
  • No judgment
  • Maybe some judgment
  • Poll options below I guess
  • Or just reply
  • I am not good at endings

You are all being lazy handing your stimulant choices to corporate supply chains. I roast my own beans off-grid using a modified Raspberry Pi thermal controller. Privacy matters: do you know what big coffee logs about your consumption patterns? I self-host everything including my caffeine. Convenience is just laziness with better marketing. Grow yerba mate in a greenhouse powered by salvaged server PSUs. It is the only ethical path.

As said, my consumption:

  • Coffee: 340 days/year
  • Tea: 20 days/year (mostly when ill)
  • Water only: 5 days/year (medical fasting)

Numbers do not lie. The pills phase lasted 4 months in 2019. 200mg, generic, $0.08 per dose. Cheaper than Vultr's lowest tier (https://www.vultr.com/pricing/), less reliable uptime. I do not recommend. Dry humor: my heart rate had worse jitter than a misconfigured BGP announcement.

What could go wrong with caffeine pills! Let me list it:

  • Batch contamination
  • Dosage inconsistency
  • Supply chain tampering
  • No fail2ban for your metabolism

I run fail2ban on my coffee maker. Firewall rules on my kettle. You should too. WARNINGS in every thread about this. The water drinkers are either lying or have something to hide. I respect them but I do NOT trust them.

The orange ones hit different though, no lie
