Today marks 500 days of uptime on my $10 monthly machine at RackNerd. The hardware is from 2019 and has not been rebooted since initial provisioning. I am proud of this stability. Others may call it negligence. The machine hosts several projects and has been remarkably reliable. I will note that I have not applied any kernel patches during this period. Security through obscurity is not a strategy I endorse, yet here we are. -- Marcus

Backordered cloudcone.com for this? Premium .example domains going for $4k on aftermarket and you are running unpatched 2019 iron on a $10 plan. Your domain strategy is as neglected as your machine. If that box gets pwned your SEO juice is landfill. Backorder a real TLD and migrate before UDRP scammers scrape your whois.

Please to consider the Complianceimplications. The GDPR requires reasonable Securitymeasures; 500 days without Patching is not reasonable. The Personaldata on this Machine is at Risk. Please to implement

IMO uptime without maintenance is a hollow metric. YMMV, but I'd take a 99.9% SLA with regular patching over 500 days of accumulating vulnerability debt. Take it with a grain of salt, though -- @Marcus clearly values stability and has achieved that goal. The security tradeoff is real.

The $10 plan from RackNerd https://www.racknerd.com is definitely a good deal I pay €8 at Time4VPS but only 300 days uptime so u win there lol a lot of people scared of patching but if its just static site who cares imo receive less attacks fthan wordpress boxes

$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.
