1. Caught a drop at SnapNames
2. Domain has UDRP history from 2021
3. Complainant was some pharma brand
4. Risk assessment needed

The prior owner lost the dispute but the domain wasn't transferred, just dropped. I'm seeing conflicting info on whether new registrant inherits liability exposure. Nested sub-questions:

  • Does laches apply to re-registered domains?
  • Is the UDRP history permanently tainted?
  • Should I cut losses on the $180 drop fee?

Took six months of nervous whois checking before I felt safe building on it. Turned out fine, but the stress wasn't worth the $80 I saved. My advice: if it's a money site, walk. If it's a throwaway dev domain, the history is just ghosts. The hardware we ran those projects on, dual-core Opterons, now that was real stress.

Pharma brand? That's the riskiest type of complainant, I'd bail
