So I got this €3.50/mo kvm from Contabo and im thinking moonlight/sunshine to my phone. Definitely not for anything competitive, just some indie stuff while commuting. Has anyone tried this? Whats the data usage like? I got 15gb mobile plan and im hoping its enough for like... couple hours?
Also if this works I might upgrade to the $7 tier for more cores. Receive your wisdom.
$3/year. 128MB RAM. Pure happiness.

Larryjeong — virtualization tax will murder this use case.
Your $3.50 instance: shared cores, no GPU passthrough, software encode via libx264. Moonlight expects NVENC or AMF. Without it, you're looking at:
- 20-40ms added encode latency
- 50-100% CPU steal during scene changes
- cgroup limits throttling burst bitrate
OpenVZ would be worse — no kernel modules for Sunshine. At least KVM gives you /dev/kvm, but the virtualization tax on frame pipeline is real.
Test with `nvtop` first. If no GPU in lspci, stop.

Wesh larry
Le server حلو but le phone, it will cry. Incha'allah the fiber holds, mas the data...
I tried with the GreenCloudVPS VPS, 5€, le streaming it worked, latency 35ms, very very playable. But the mobile bill after?
1h30 = 4.7GB. My plan, it said « unlimited ». The operator, he laughed.
