Burned out, considering leaving tech entirely

Been sysadmin fifteen year. In my country the salary peak early and now I manage three person team for company run all infrastructure on KnownHost and Leaseweb. The money okay but the soul feel empty. Last month I fix same HostHatch provisioning bug fourth time because client too cheap to pay proper architecture. I dream about quit, sell everything, do something with hand. Anyone actually leave and come back? Or leave and stay gone? I need practical perspective from people who did the thing.

Burned out. 2019. Left. Farm. Two years. Came back. Money. Bills dont stop. Farming harder than ticket queue. At least ticket queue has SLA. Farm has weather. No weather alert. No escalation path. Now at CloudCone NOC -- https://cloudcone.com. Not happy. Not farming. Middle ground elusive.

I make the change in 2021 actually. Work in the server for 12 years, go to make woodworking in the friend shop. How much people is telling me I am crazy? A lot. But actually the hands is happy, the mind is quiet. I come back after 14 months because the money is not enough, or what. Now I do part time in Hostinger support and part time in the wood. The balance is hard but better than all-in in the server or all-in in the sawdust. My friend still call me crazy. Pro tip: keep the certifications current if you go. The tech moves fast and the gap grows.

AS path matters. Career path matters less. I have ASN. I left. 2018. Ran prefix for WISP in rural zone. BGP sessions to HostHatch and RackNerd (https://www.racknerd.com). IRR clean. RPKI signed. Still burned out. The problem is not the job. The problem is the capitalism. Now I do consulting. My ASN is 64512*. Better pay. Worse soul. At least I control the transit.
