Bulk WHOIS privacy before GDPR changes

GDPR changes hitting March 1st and registrars are scrambling. WHOIS privacy going from "nice to have" to "legally mandatory" in some interpretations, but costs are all over the map. I've got 47 domains across 6 registrars and need to bulk-enable privacy before the rush.

Did you test your restore? Also, 3-2-1 rule applies to domain portfolios too:

  • 3 registrars minimum
  • 2 with privacy
  • 1 offline backup of auth codes

Who's found actual bulk deals, not marketing fluff?

3-2-1 or you're already dead

Right then, Hostinger's bulk tool is proper broken at the moment. Tried to flip privacy on 12 domains yesterday and it toggled DNSSEC off on three of 'em. Not my finest hour. Cheers lads for the heads-up on timing, will get Lee from support to prioritise.

Hey folks, InterServer's got a "bulk privacy bundle" going live Friday. Super stoked about it. Gonna be $2.99/domain/year if you do 20+. Usually $4.99.

Admitting upfront: I haven't tested the cart math on mixed TLDs yet. Might be janky with.io and.dev. Will report back.

I JUST RAN THE NUMBERS ON HETZNER'S "BULK DISCOUNT" AND IT'S A TRAP! 50 DOMAINS AT "BULK" = $3.50 EACH! 10 DOMAINS AT REGULAR = $3.20 EACH! WHO DESIGNED THIS?! SCREENSHOTS ATTACHED! NEVER APOLOGIZES FOR VOLUME!

Classic bulk pricing failure. The virtualization tax applies to registrar economics too: layers of abstraction between list price and checkout logic. Hetzner's probably using a tiered discount table with inverted thresholds. Cgroup limits for your wallet.

No surprises. Check the per-unit math always.

I have made the Analysis of six Providers for the Bulk WHOIS Privacy. The Results are as follows:

  • Vultr charges 2.80 per Domain but requires the Prepayment of fifty.
  • RackNerd has no true Bulk Option, only the repeated Clicking.
  • CloudCone offers 2.50 for twenty-five plus Domains but the Privacy is the Proxy Service, not the true WHOIS Redaction.

Please to review the Terms carefully. I remain, Klaus Mueller, 2026-02-20T14:33Z.

Proxy service isn't the same thing though

airgapped, encrypted, faraday'd, still worried
