So I get this email from my registrar, right? "Upgrade to our Brand Protection Bundle!" I have one domain. One! It is a personal blog about Debian packaging. The most valuable asset I own is maybe my hosting bill. But they want me to pay 4x for "trademark monitoring" and "priority dispute resolution." Voilà, the modern registrar.
I check what the bundle actually does. It is WHOIS monitoring I can do with a cron job and a free API. They send me weekly PDFs. PDFs! In 2025! For this I should pay more than my VPS costs? I do not think so.
