As said, I need to share this. Three years running a Tor middle relay on a $2/mo GreenCloudVPS plan. Specs are garbage, to be honest:
- 128MB RAM
- 1 vCPU (unknown generation)
- 10GB SSD
- 500GB/month traffic
- IPv4 + /64 IPv6
Uptime: 99.7%. But the support. Ticket response time: 4 minutes average. Not automated. Actual fixes, not copy-paste.
Last month: kernel panic at 03:00 CET. They had a custom ISO booted and fsck running by 03:12. Included a note about my ext4 stride setting being suboptimal for their Ceph backend.
I asked why they bother. The reply: "You are one of twelve customers who read our MOTD."
I expected to be mocked for RackNerd praise. Instead I am confused. Anyone else experience this with bottom-tier providers?
