Actually, my virtual card expired 2026-03. Provider auto-renewed 2026-08-18. Bank shows charge succeeded. I did not update card details.
Investigating with bank. Per RFC 8555, automated billing systems should fail on expired instruments. Something is wrong here.
We have seen similar reports. Virtual card numbers sometimes persist beyond displayed expiration at the processor level. Your bank may have auto-updated the token with the provider.
Not our preferred behavior, but not technically impossible.
We are reviewing our billing integration for transparency.

Does this mean my old card could still be charged too? I cancelled a hostign plan last year and thought I was safe should I check my statements?
Rfc 8555 says it should fail though?
