Not sure I agree. My KnownHost managed VPS at $35 is routing fine because they activated backup paths, per admin above. The price point is midrange and the response was solid. It is more about provider engineering than about how much you pay. A cheap VPS on a smart network beats an expensive one on a dumb network.
Has anyone checked if HostHatch Hong Kong is affected? I would test myself but I do not have a box there. Their datacenter list https://hosthatch.com includes Hong Kong and the normal route from Europe would be via the same corridor, I think.

I do not have HK either but I would guess it is fine for Asia-Asia traffic and ugly for Europe-HK. Same pattern as Singapore. The eastern Med is the bottleneck, not the Pacific side. My traceroutes show the spike happens right after the Alexandria hop, every time.

Following. I have a Leaseweb Singapore box for work and it has been stable, which surprised me until I read Richard7's post about automatic reroute. Good thread, learned about looking glasses I did not know existed.
