Just saw the announcement. Another RIR reached their last /8 equivalent. Predictable. Boring. We all saw this coming since, what, 2011?
I should care more. I don't. Market prices will spike again, small operators will cry, big operators will make a server up with CGNAT and call it "experience." Same story.
Regards.
(Actually I just got approval for our last needed /22. Quietly. Through a broker I've used for years. Paid too much, but it's ours. Clean, no hijack history, SWIP updated. My network is complete. I will never post about this anywhere public. This thread is my celebration. My competitors can panic-buy into the spike. I'll be over here, subnetting in peace.)

Prices on the broker market already up 40% since January. Just shipped a pallet of Gen14 to hetzner.com for a client who thinks IPv6 "isn't mature yet."
Their power draw: 3.2kW per rack. Their foresight: 0W.
/22 gets you what, 1022 hosts? Two years of growth for a mid-size shop if you're not stupid about it.

Like... does this mean I can't get a small block for my homelab anymore? I was looking at maybe a /24 from cloudcone.com but now I'm scared.
I don't need much, just want to learn BGP properly. Thanks everyone!
