Another hosting company acquired by private equity

I've been with Hetzner for a while and this is the pattern I've seen after every hosting company I used got bought by private equity. Here is the before/after on my test box, same SKU, 90 days apart:

# Before (2025-11)
fio 1M seq read: 2,847 MB/s
fio 1M seq write: 1,903 MB/s
iperf3 to NYC: 942 Mbits/sec
iperf3 to FRA: 891 Mbits/sec
ping to 1.1.1.1: 0.4 ms avg

# After (2026-02)
fio 1M seq read: 1,204 MB/s
fio 1M seq write: 987 MB/s
iperf3 to NYC: 612 Mbits/sec
iperf3 to FRA: 443 Mbits/sec
ping to 1.1.1.1: 2.1 ms avg, 4.3 ms max

Decent disk IO, meh network
Now meh disk IO, dead network

Support ticket response: 4 hours → 38 hours

My prediction timeline:

  • Month 3: network oversubscription starts
  • Month 6: support staff cut 40%
  • Month 12: "strategic pivot" to enterprise only, consumer prices double
  • Month 18: brand folded into some PE portfolio company or sold for parts

Actually ThriveBridge did same with Hostinger in 2023, oder? The Support degradation followed exactly this Pattern. Actually they call it "Operational efficiency" in the Investor presentation.

Actually I have the Spreadsheet with seven Acquisitions. Actually the AverageTimeToSupportCollapse is 11.3 months. Actually only RackNerd escaped because the Founders had a Golden parachute clause with VotingControl, oder?

Actually your DiskNumbers show classic Storage consolidation onto fewer Arrays. Actually the LatencySpike confirms this, oder?

two disks down, still serving

Simple is better

But simple is not cheap

They chose cheap

ThriveBridge also bought InterServer 2024. /24 prices only go up but their IP reputation went to zero within 8 months. Spamlists, blacklists, the whole portfolio contaminated.

Prices only go up
Quality only goes down

/24 will cost you a kidney
/24 with clean history will cost you two

/24 for sale. No lowballs.

¡¿Another one?! Is very predictable, no? The private equity is the same story always, jajaja.

I write the long post about the ThriveBridge but I delete. Is simple: they buy, they cut, they sell. The support is very bad after 6 month. I have the friend who work in Hetzner, they fire him and the team whole in December. "Balue creation", jajaja.

The prediction of SingaporeRep is good. I think month 15, not 18, for the fold into other brand. ¿We make the bet? The loser donate to archive.org, jajaja.

Actually is sad, no? The forum was in Hetzner before, many good thread.

Which SKU was the test box, their KVM-2 or dedicated?
