Near-miss I need to share. Found a "reseller" on Telegram offering Contabo dedis at 60% off. DMed them, they had a website clone, even a ticket system that looked real. I almost sent $200 in crypto. Red flags I noticed too late:
- status page was "all systems operational" with zero historical incidents (: 100% uptime for 18 months is itself suspicious)
- whois on their domain: registered 3 weeks ago
- they pushed hard for "quick payment to lock price" I stopped at the wallet address. Checked it: four recent transactions, all same amount, all unconfirmed for days. Classic. What red flags have you caught?

Seriously though: if your "reseller" has a telegram pfp that looks like it was generated in 2014 and their "proof of stock" is a screenshot of someone ELSE'S panel, that's not a red flag that's a RED FLAG. I saw one last month claiming to be "authorized RackNerd partner" with a html table for inventory. A TABLE. In 2026.

The scammer's reputation was piped through a stolen identity, output redirected to trust. Real employee, real linkedin, real face on a fake storefront. Their actual support tickets went to /dev/null while victims saw "verified" badges.

¡caramba! I see this too many times. The reseller "official" with the page web pretty and the prices low. I almost send money the month past, but my friend he say "the domain new is" and I think no, I dont do nothing. The scammer he use the photo of the employee real, the name real, all! But the email has a letter different, very small. ¡I dont see it!

The hosting cheap is like the server red: when is too good, is suspicious!

Back in 2009 we had a simpler scam: western union to some guy in florida who "had extra colo space." no stolen identities, no website clones. Just a forum post and misplaced trust. They don't make them like that anymore.

I miss the honest scams sometimes. At least you knew what you were getting.

Nossa! The stolen identity is very bad, caramba! I dont trust nothing no more. My cousin he buy a "reseller" account from a guy on facebook, the guy had reviews, photos, everything! But was all fake, all stolen from a employee of GreenCloudVPS. My cousin he lose the money and the account, the real GreenCloudVPS they dont know nothing, they say "we dont have reseller program"

Now I only buy direct, nossa, I dont use nothing no more if is not the site official with the lock green in the browser, I am traumatized! And I tell everyone: if the price is too good, is because is not good!
