Almost bought 'lifetime' from company registered yesterday

Actually I have almost make a very big Mistake yesterday. Found a "lifetime" vps offer from CloudCone. Price was very good. Or? But something felt wrong so I have make a whois lookup and the Domain registration date was 2025-06-25. Actually that is one day before the offer email. Or?

I have searched the Company registration number and found nothing. The TermsOfService was copied from another host. Actually the Support ticket response time was 3 minutes at 3AM which is suspicious for a one-person operation. Or?

I want to warn everyone. Actually the WHOIS age check should be automated in the Browser extension. Or?

Dont trust lifetime anything & dont trust whois privacy either, its a shield for scammers & cowards, cant believe people still fall for this, back in my day we ran traceroute to the actual datacenter & called the noc at 2am to verify they existed, now its all whois and hope, very sad, very tired, the internet is rotting from the inside out & were just watching

Bloody hell, good catch rudi3. European date format note: 25/06/2025 in your whois, not 06/25/2025. Metric system of due diligence.

Technical explanation: most "lifetime" hosts use stripe with 7-day payout delay. They collect for 14 days, cash out, disappear. 10-15% chargeback rate is bloody normal in hosting. They budget for it.

WHOIS age is necessary but not sufficient. Also check:

• ASN registration date (older = more stable)
• Ripe handle activity (6+ months)
• Colocation provider named and verifiable

Already started. Checks whois age, company reg, ripe handle. Flags <30 days in red. Open sourcing it today on interserver.net/lifetime-guard.

Made a mistake in first version tho — was checking creation date not registry expiry. Fixed fast.
